Our story

It started with a bad back

Nora Albrecht was an insurance analyst with a herniated disc when a gentle class in a church basement gave her the first pain-free week in a year. She trained as a teacher, taught in other people’s studios for six years, and opened Still Point in 2017 in an old tailor’s shop on Larkspur Street.

A second room opened in 2021, small and quiet, for the classes that need it: prenatal, restorative, beginners and private sessions. Today Still Point has four teachers, about eighteen classes a week, and a lobby where people stay for tea after class more often than they’d admit.

Teacher training

Thinking about teaching?

Nora will lead our first 200-hour teacher training in 2027, with weekend modules from January through May. It’s for people who want to deepen their own practice as much as for people who want to teach.

Come to the free info session on Thursday, Nov. 19, to ask questions about the curriculum, the cost and the schedule.

  • Weekend modules, January to May 2027
  • Small group, led by Nora

“I walked in sure I’d be the stiffest person in the room. Lena found me a chair, a block and a smile, and I haven’t missed a Tuesday since.”

“Nora’s Sunrise Vinyasa is the reason I get up at 5:30. Twelve mats means she actually sees you and tells you what to fix.”

“Imani’s prenatal class carried me through my third trimester. Everyone was at a different stage, and nobody blinked when I had to lie on my side halfway through.”
